Creative Two-Block Quilts

These pieced blocks from award-winning designer Trice Boerens are perfectly lovely on their own, but put them next to each other and something really incredible happens: a vibrant new pattern emerges, making it nearly impossible to see where one block ends and the next one begins.
With complete instructions and diagrams for the construction of 12 10" x 10" blocks that were just born to play together and 20 beautiful two-block quilt projects that trick the eye in beautiful ways, Creative Two-Block Quilts is so much fun. Whether you pick and choose from Trice’s dressed-up versions of traditional blocks (such as the Pin Wheel, the Log Cabin, the Ohio Star) to create your own unique quilt, or try your hand at any of her projects, assembling these quilts is a fantastic way to experiment with the interplay of colors and shapes—it’s really neat to see how these elements can be manipulated to make all sorts of optical illustions. In fact, while some blocks appear to seamlessly blend together, others look as if they’re ready to pop right off the quilt top.
As you’ll see once you start thinking outside the blocks, you’ll end up with some pretty amazing quilts!

Not my favorite book, but not a bad one either. There are some cute combinations to use. I'm sure I'll be making something from this book.

Great Idea

I had never thought about interchanging blocks from one quilt to another, but this is exciting. If I weren't already working on a quilt, I'd be starting on one of these.
