Back in 2008, the Houston International Quilt Market launched a contest to find the best, new jelly-roll quilts. It was a fantastic way to discover all the wonderful ways quilters are using these oh-so-handy bundles of 2½" strips of pre-assorted fabrics that make piecing and sashing a breeze. Now, in Jelly Roll Inspirations, Pam and Nicky Lintott (of Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts fame) showcase the grand-prize winning quilt, along with 11 gorgeous runners-up, in 12 unique quilt projects. Each design uses exactly one jelly roll and some additional backing fabric—making them super-quick and inexpensive to make. And, the Lintott’s have re-created all the quilts, to ensure absolute accuracy and to offer alternative colorways!

What is not to love? Out of the twelve different patterns- I give 10 of them a big thumbs up. The other two, well, one looks too complex and the other too simplistic. The "Birthday Gift" quilt was my favorite, perfect colors, pinwheels with movement - I have to make this one! "Candy Heart" is another must - romantic colors and alternate variation that gives it a country feel. "Be my Valentine" with its cheery mix of florals, dots and stripes -smashing!
I was going to give this book to my mum but I fancy it too much. Guess I will have to get her another copy. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Jelly Rolls.

Good basic book but was hoping for something a bit more challenging. Overall good patterns and look forward to trying a few of the patterns.

This book was about what I expected. A few nice quilt patterns mixed in with some junk. I'm sure it's all about taste and opinion. Good pictures and directions. Only 12 patterns. I was not blown away. I really wish they had included a few pages of pictures of the submissions not chosen for the book.
