Complete Book of Curtains, Drapes & Blinds

Making your own window treatments is a great way to save money, and you get the added fun of picking the styles and fabrics you like best, but narrowing your options can be overwhelming, to say the least. That’s where interior designer Wendy Baker can help. She’s arranged her fabric swatches, sketches, photos of fabulous interiors in an array of styles and all of her best ideas for designing knock-out window treatments in one must-have guide. Leaf through the inspiring pages of The Complete Book of Curtains, Drapes & Blinds and you’ll find all you need to know (and then some!) to choose the covering that best fits your style and particular type of window. There’s even a complete chapter that teaches you the skills and techniques required to make window treatments yourself. Of course, if sewing isn’t your thing, this handy resource comes with more than enough info to help you explore your fabric options (including which materials are best for sunny or drafty rooms), peruse the latest styles in poles, finials, tie-backs, tassels and trims and so much more. With all that’s in this book, it’s almost impossible to not come across a beautiful idea that hadn’t occured to you yet!

Not what I thought it would be...

This book is great if you need ideas for window treatments, but the chapter that "shows" you how to make all these wonderful ideas is only 18 pages out of a 285 page book. It shows you the basics of measuring and what tools you need, but not specifics on each type of window treatment featured in the book. I was disappointed with the book because I wanted a "how to" book on actually making all these different types of window treatments. Also, all of the examples they show in the book are drawings, not photographs.
