In addition to designs for necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets that add a perfect, polished finish to any outfit, what sets this jewelry-making book apart from the rest are Cheryl Owen’s fantastic suggestions for customizing her jewelry to fit your taste and style.
Each of the 25 projects features a photo of both the original piece and a variation so you can see how substituting beads or making other minor adjustments can make a dramatic difference in the final outcome. So, for example, if you think her sparkly crystal-studded chunky bangle is too…well, chunky and sparkly, you can see exactly how it would look narrower and without all the crystals. Or if you love the shape of the dramatic smoky gray freshwater pearl necklace, but aren’t a fan of pearls or purple, you’ll see how this piece can look equally stunning in coral.
Beyond the projects, Owen shows you how to take advantage of the wide availablity and low prices of semiprecious beads, as well as how to measure for a perfect fit, use tools correctly, secure jump rings and so much more. And since there are no difficult techniques to master or prior skills needed, even beginners should expect fantastic results!

I enjoyed the step by step techniques. The projects were inspiring and gave me ideas for new ones. Nice layout of materials and tools needed for jewelry making. This book was very helpful to me.

Most of the projects in this book are very simple. This is a good book for someone just starting to bead. There are a couple of projects that are more detailed but a seasoned beader would be very dissapointed. I bought this book because of the necklace on the cover and thought there would be more like them but, it was the best project in the book.

I don't like slamming people or books, in fact this is my first negative review. I think people have a right to earn a living, but there should be a line drawn somewhere. The editor should be just as ashamed as the author.
If you need instructions, by all means buy the book. As far as projects, the necklace on the cover is the best looking one in it. All the rest look like they were made and/or meant for kindergarteners, and I wouldn't be caught dead in any of them. If I had seen a sneak peek beforehand, I never would have bought the book - as it was, I got it as a bonus, so it's not worth returning. Run, do not walk, away from this turkey!!
