Painted Garden Art

The author of the incredibly popular The Art of Painting Animals on Rocks, Painting Zoo Animals on Rocks, Painting Flowers on Rocks and Painting on Rocks for Kids is back! Lin Wellford has done it again with even more inventive ways to dress up your garden with paint! These 11 wildly fun art projects will turn humdrum paving stones, boring borders and tired ol’ rocks into breathtaking focal points and ever-blooming borders:
• Transform a scalloped cement border into a woolly caterpillar or a line of elephants on parade.
• Stop your visitors in their tracks with a life-sized garden gator that doubles as a flower bed and looks especially realistic filled with cacti and succulents. There’s a larger-than-life goldfish planter, too.
• Bring a bit of the tropics to your backyard with basking iguana garden accents, petaled Hibiscus blossom pathways, glorious butterfly stepping stones, even a faux fish pond complete with koi, lily pads and tortoises and toads basking in the sun.
Step-by-step instructions and lots of photos along with full-sized patterns make it fun and easy for everyone to create a fabulous array of outdoor decorations. This is art anyone can do!

I am looking forward to a few of the projects. They do look fun but challenging.

Great ideas but not for the beginner
October 04, 2009

This book has great ideas for making some very interesting items to brighten your garden. Patterns are included for many of the ideas shown, but you do need some artistic talent and understanding of shading and technique. Not a book for an art beginner.

If you don't have some working knowledge of painting, this book is not for you. It's not as easy as it looks. The patterns are printed back to back. You have to trace or copy the one you want to use. Two of the butterfly patterns would have to be enlarger in order to use on a standard stepping stone. Not everything seen in the photo's are in this book. However, feel free to order the book that has them. A good assortment of brushes is a must. I'm guessing that if you live where it snow, be prepared to drag your rocks in during the winter, unless you know how to seal/weather proof your paint. Some of the ideas are cute.

Fantastic and Wonderful

This book is the greatest! If you have a lot of rocks in your yard, start painting them. With this book, yes you can paint. Clear step by step instructions. I'm planing on a painted garden wonderland for my Grandchildren.
