Crazy Shortcut Quilts

Crazy quilts are beautiful, but their odd-shaped pieces and fancy stitches can really…well, drive you crazy. Luckily, the authors of this book have come up with a brand new way to create crazy quilts that will speed up the process, turn out beautiful results, and save your sanity!

What’s their secret? Here’s the first: Instead of using randomly shaped scraps of fabric, you start with uniformly sized squares in various colors, then you make a series of matching cuts in the squares and reassemble the squares mixing many different colors for each square. Quilters of all skill levels will enjoy this quick and easy method. You’ll find 15 projects here, all tailored to work with fat quarters!

what a great binding solution
July 27, 2010

The crazy quilted squares of these quilts aren't "crazy" enough for me, but I have successfully used the binding technique several times since receiving this book. That alone makes this book worth the price. I will never again blind stitch another binding! I have also used the decorative stiches on my machine to finish row quilts since reading this book. On the down side, I now want a new machine with more stich selection. I'm afraid that's going to run into some money!

Simple Steps Very Well-Illustrated
March 25, 2010

This books spells things out wonderfully, and I think is good for beginning quilters. Even has a bit on color selection. The designs are not "crazy" at all really, rather static, but with a little imagination someone could use the construction techniques to have some fun.

Love This Book!
March 09, 2010

I love all the detailed instructions. I do simple, slap-it-on zigzag around it,quilting and this book made me change my way of quilting. I now am able to get the decorative stitching done easily and with beautiful results front and back. Still as quick and easy as before.

Great fun way to do Crazy Quilts
October 23, 2009

I am an expert seamstress but am new to quilting. I have always loved crazy quilts and was attracted to this just by the cover. It has really gotten me interested in quilting and it is a fun way of doing it. Even my d-i-l who is a quilter said it looked like a fun way to use up scraps quick projects. The only thing I don't like about it is some of the quilts ,to me, have so much sashing it detracts from the 'crazy quilt' theme.
