This is a great book to learn this technique! I crochet, but have not tried incorporating beads. The book has good pictures of how to accomplish various levels and types of jewelry. Can't wait to get started working on some of the projects.

This technique was harder than I thought it would be. I spent a lot of time learning with pony beads. The detailed instructions were a big help. The beautiful projects are something for me to work towards. I'm very happy with this purchase. I enjoy learning new crafts.

but this book actually had some ideas that I had NOT thought of previously. While I typically use 11/os and even 15/os for most of my beadwork, (haven't used smaller than 8/os since I learned a few years back), this gave me a ton of ideas on expanding the sizes that I have been using. It is an excellent book for anyone interested in learning bead crochet, and I also recommend anything by Ann Benson. Definitely learn on pony beads 1st then from there you can try 6/os, 4mm, of 8/os, etc...until you are down to even 13/os! When you combine the various sizes you will be able to really add either texture or a neat spiral to your work. It is addictive though! The larger beads will definitely allow you to complete a piece much quicker! Right now I am work on the larat but instead of drops and daggers, I used these crazy jagged pearls and larger beads for above it, as well as a bead soup (which I already made a lot before) to make the greatest part of it. About half down now.
I like to use Jean stitch thread which is polyester so it doesn't stretch out and can take a lot except if you use bicones(those can cut your thread--be careful!). Find that thread fits most beads..even 15/os but its tight. I like the big eye needles and generally use the LONG ones if I am doing an elaborate pattern.
I have really been enjoying this book even though I am experienced. Definitely was worth buying :)
